Apples - varieties listed below

Available by the kilo and all spray free this week.

Pink Lady - high acid, high sugar apple with a crisp bite and effervescent finish. It's a bit more tart than sweet and very refreshing. When cut, they tend to oxidise (a.k.a brown) slower than other types of apples, making them a good option for cheese boards or slicing and adding to sandwiches or salads. Due to their firm texture, they also hold their shape well when baked.

Granny Smith - a  sweet-tart flavour and crisp texture, Granny Smith apples are renowned  for cooking and baking as well as eating fresh. Granny Smith apples make a beautifully smooth applesauce, but when roasted whole or baked, they don't collapse or disintegrate, making it the preferred apple for tarts, pies, and the platonic ideal of an apple dessert, the famous French tarte tatin.

GalaA crisp, sweet apple with a mild flavour, Galas have yellow-orange skin with red striping. They're a great apple choice for using to create applesauce, salads, eating out-of-hand, and pressing into cider.

CrimsonThe flesh is crisp and flavourful, halfway between sweet and sour. It keeps its shape and texture even at high temperatures, making it an excellent choice for both fresh eating and baking.

Fuji - Fuji apples are one of the best apple varieties to eat fresh. They work great for baking and cooking as well. However, the sweet and crisp flesh makes Fuji apples an incredibly refreshing snack. Fuji apples make excellent apple juice or cider.
